UndergraduateField Experience

Gain real-world experience in mental health, schools, hospitals, child welfare, counseling, criminal justice, community organizing and more through your field education – one of the most vital components of your social work degree.

During your senior year, we will match you with an agency based on your goals and desired learning experiences. This 400-hour field placement gives you the opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with supervised practice in one of our more than 1,200 diverse agencies across Ohio, the nation and the world.

During your field placement, you will be challenged to learn by reflecting on interactions with clients, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, advocating for clients’ rights, confronting ethical dilemmas and improving cultural awareness. Through this learning process, you will develop and enhance your proficiency as a social worker and become better prepared for the many dimensions of your new social work career.

Total Hours in Agency – 400

Hours per Semester (14 Weeks) – 200
