The Marysville Mary-Go-Round Paves the Way for Accessible Transportation
As part of the Age-Friendly Innovation Center’s (AFIC) efforts to make transportation more accessible for aging communities, the “Marysville Mary-Go-Round” is a free bus program that runs twice per week picking up older adults from their housing complexes and shuttling them around Marysville.
In an earlier study that looked at the needs of central Ohio’s older residents and which tasks proved difficult for them, one of the most apparent observations was a widespread, unmet need for more transportation options. With the U.S. population of people 65 and older increased by 28% between 2015 and 2024, and Ohio estimated to have more than 2.3 million people in that age range by 2030, AFIC has endeavored to provide solutions to this issue and better prepare communities for the future ahead of them.
