Congratulations to Dr. Jacquelyn Meshelemiah who has been appointed as the college’s new associate dean of Academic Affairs, effective May 15, 2026 through May 14, 2030.

During this year’s 2026 Career Week, students had four jam-packed days to explore the many career paths on which social work can take them! The week hosted a variety of speakers, mixers, workshops and fairs aimed at connecting students to more in-depth career and practicum pathways in the field.

Congratulations to the 2026 NASW Ohio Awardees. The Ohio State University College of Social Work proudly congratulates our alumni and students who were recognized by NASW Ohio for their outstanding contributions to the field of social work.

March is National Criminal Justice Month, and the College of Social Work is recognizing one of its faculty members whose work deepens the understanding of juvenile and criminal legal systems. Dr. Taylor Reed-Jones focuses her scholarship on the collateral consequences of incarceration for Black young adults.

In the summer of 2023, a group of 25 teachers and staff members from Dublin City Schools (DCS) began a rigorous two-year program that would end with participants receiving a master’s degree in social work from The Ohio State University and a job with a DCS school as a mental health specialist.

Congratulations to Dr. James Lachaud whose research was recently cited in The New York Times. The story, published on December 26, 2025, features Lachaud’s Housing First program and addresses the broader policy conversation about homelessness.

Congratulations to the Age-Friendly Innovation Center for its recent grant from The Columbus Foundation and supporting foundation, the Isabelle Ridgway Foundation. The new funding will go toward the center’s 2026 Central Ohio Regional Assessment on Aging, which is conducted in collaboration with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging and the Franklin County Office on Aging.
