Since nearly 80% of unmarried mothers have completed high school or less due to life circumstances disrupting their education, developing better systems to support their postnatal educational attainment is crucial for improving employment and economic prospects for both the mothers and their children.

Faculty expertise showcased at Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Annual Conference
Nearly 100 College of Social Work faculty, staff and students will present at the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Annual Conference. From workshops on the latest quantitative and qualitative research methodologies to symposia featuring studies in child welfare, aging, mental health, welfare reform, substance abuse and HIV/AIDS, the conference will feature more than 500 symposia, workshops, roundtables, papers and poster presentations.

OhioMHAS Awards SOAR Network Innovation Grant to LiFEsports to Expand “Coach Beyond” Training Initiative to Youth Sports
The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) today announced it has awarded a $250,000 SOAR Network Innovation Grant to LiFEsports – a premiere model for sport-based positive youth development at The Ohio State University – to extend its “Coach Beyond” trainings to community based sports organizations.
