Research Brief: How jobs in different industries may shape methamphetamine use risk in U.S. communities
Local employment patterns may drive substance use risks more than individual factors alone. New research reveals that U.S. counties with higher concentrations of jobs in utilities, construction, and support services experience elevated rates of methamphetamine use. These findings highlight how workplace environments and economic dynamics directly shape community public health.

AFIC and COAAA Named Recipients of Prestigious Aging Innovations Award from USAging
USAging recognized the Age-Friendly Innovation Center and Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging, awarding third place to their Shallow Subsidy Program. Launched in July 2024, the initiative promotes housing security for low-income older adult renters, offering evidence-based, promising solutions to inform policy and combat rising housing insecurity both in Ohio and nationally.

The Marysville Mary-Go-Round Paves the Way for Accessible Transportation
As part of the Age-Friendly Innovation Center’s (AFIC) efforts to make transportation more accessible for aging communities, the “Marysville Mary-Go-Round” is a free bus program that runs twice per week picking up older adults from their housing complexes and shuttling them around Marysville.
