The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) today announced it has awarded a $250,000 SOAR Network Innovation Grant to LiFEsports – a premiere model for sport-based positive youth development at The Ohio State University – to extend its “Coach Beyond” trainings to community based sports organizations.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Most U.S. military veterans who have used psychedelics reported in a recent study that they pursued the substances for healing or spiritual exploration, and over 80% said they benefited from the experience – even those who had challenging outcomes.

Congratulations to Drs. Samantha Bates and Dawn Anderson-Butcher for their recently published article in Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators.

The discussion covered how important transportation is to older adults and how access impacts mental and physical health, independence and autonomy.

Depicting older adults as lonely, and unengaged is common, but not accurate. LGBTQIA2+ older adults form meaningful relationships despite discrimination, and marginalization.

As the director of Sports Leadership and the LAFC Youth Leadership Program at the Bresee Foundation, O’Quinn has a strong passion for soccer which has helped him make a positive impact in youth development in Los Angeles. 

Picnics are a favorite during the summer, and Christine Happel, co-organized and hosted a first-of-its-kind outing in Columbus this year called So Camp!

Dr. Holly Dabelko-Schoeny, director of research for the Age-Friendly Innovation Center, will join a panel discussion on Wednesday, Aug. 7, hosted by the Columbus Metropolitan Club.

Kethan Mokadam was selected as one of 20 regional winners of the Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award. Mokadam, a student research assistant with LiFEsports, was honored by the ESPYS on Thursday night.
