Bio

Mitzi Moody is an Assistant Clinical Professor with the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University and holds an independent license to practice social work (LISW-S) in the State of Ohio. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and in religious studies from the University of California, Davis and a minor in Communications. Additionally, she earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) from California State University, Sacramento and a law degree from Capital University Law School. Mitzi has taught a number of courses at the BSSW and MSW level.

As a practitioner, Mitzi provided both micro- and macro-services to children, youth and families. Her clinical practice focused on diagnostic assessment and family therapy services for clients in the child welfare and juvenile justice systems. She then transitioned into research where Mitzi worked for several years on a project to reduce rapid repeat teen pregnancy throughout Columbus, Ohio. As a social work administrator, Mitzi served as the youth and family program manager for the Franklin County Alcohol, Drug and Mental Health Board where she managed a $15M dollar budget and provided technical assistance in program development, prevention, evidence-based practice, and program implementation to local community agencies. Mitzi also enjoyed the opportunity to work in collaboration with the community while planning programs to address youth suicide, school mental health, infant mortality, youth homelessness and a number of other initiatives.
