Psychedelic Crisis Assessment and Intervention for EMS & Emergency Department Professionals

The goal of this training is to equip Emergency Medical Services and Emergency Department personnel – including paramedics, emergency medical technicians and emergency department medical staff such as doctors, nurses, social workers and physicians – with the knowledge, attitudes and skills needed to recognize and respond effectively to psychedelic-related crises. Participants will learn evidence-informed approaches to improve crisis outcomes, enhance patient and provider safety, and deliver compassionate, trauma-informed medical care during acute presentations.

The training also provides strategies to reduce the risk of escalation, strengthen coordination with behavioral health and law enforcement partners, and minimize liability for emergency medical professionals and healthcare institutions. In addition to acute response, the training offers guidance for those providing follow-up care to individuals after psychedelic use, helping ensure continuity of care and supporting long-term psychological and physiological stabilization.
