January 6 for  fellowship consideration, domestic applicants

January 8 for all applicants


Application Materials

  • Ohio State Graduate Application or Transfer of Graduate Program Application
  • Resume
  • Application Cover Sheet
  • Personal Statement
  • Field Evaluation or Letter Summarizing Performance for ASAP eligible MSW-PhD Applicants
  • Academic (preferred) or professional writing sample
  • GRE scores
  • TOEFL or other English scores for international applicants
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation
  • Transcripts from every post-secondary institution attended
  • Graduate Associate (GA) application for those seeking funding

MSW-PhD Eligibility to Apply

MSW-PhD applicants who have a master’s degree in a related field need only submit a completed application for consideration.

MSW-PhD applicants whose highest degree is a bachelor’s need to meet the following eligibility requirements for admission consideration:

  • Completed application
  • 3.5 or higher combined undergraduate GPA
  • GRE Scores
    • Verbal – 40th percentile or higher
    • Quantitative – 40th percentile or higher
    • Writing – score of 3.5 or higher
  • B- or Better in a research course and in a statistics course
