Location: Ohio Union
Opiates, Addiction and Action: Building Recovery for Ohio
Hear from those doing the work in our communities, clinics and courts to mitigate the harms of Ohio's opiate epidemic. Get the tools to change the conversation around opiates and addiction.
Dr. Bridget Freisthler, College of Social Work Associate Dean of Research
Dr. Freisthler will provide a bird’s eye view of the opiate problem through mapping research and analysis. She will discuss how a focus on certain features of the opioid crisis (e.g., overdoses, child abuse) can reflect notions of the “worthy” vs. “unworthy” individuals.
Judge Fred Moses, Hocking County Municipal Court
Seeing the damage caused by opiate addiction in his courtroom every day, Judge Moses, has become a leading voice in the use of specialty dockets and medication-assisted treatment to provide pathways to recovery.
Two breakout workshops and a special advocacy session will showcase best practices and give attendees the tools to change the conversation where they work and live.
There is no cost for the conference; includes breakfast and lunch.
