During this year’s 2026 Career Week, students had four jam-packed days to explore the many career paths on which social work can take them! The week hosted a variety of speakers, mixers, workshops and fairs aimed at connecting students to more in-depth career and practicum pathways in the field.
The college was proud to host an array of visiting community partners to Stillman Hall to meet with students directly.
Sara Harrison-Mills, chief executive officer at Syntero Inc., and Kacie Bowens, child welfare specialist at Franklin County Children Services, were two featured presenters for day two’s “Mental Health and Child Welfare” focus. Harrison-Mills and Bowens engaged students in meaningful discussions relating to navigating community mental health and child welfare, respectively.
Career Week also hosted Steve David, current Ohio director of All Voting is Local and former advocacy director at the college, for day four’s “Social Justice and Advocacy Focus.” David lead a valuable skill-building workshop for students interested in undertaking policy and advocacy in their social work careers.
In addition to these workshops and presentations, students built and revamped their career profiles. There were ample networking opportunities with local organizations and potential employers, as well as the chance to have a new headshot taken with a professional photographer.
The college deeply appreciates all of the students and community partners who attended this year’s Career Week!
