You’re invited to explore career paths and practicum sites, connect with employers and build professional skills!
To celebrate National Social Work Month, the College of Social Work has planned an exciting week of speakers, mixers, workshops and fairs that will connect students to more in-depth various career and practicum pathways and community partners. Give-a-ways and refreshments will also be available throughout.
Registration for each session is required through Handshake.

Kickoff & Career and Field Exploration
Date: Tuesday, March 24
Location: 115 Stillman Hall (Zoom options also available)
- 4:30 p.m. – Turning Work into Learning: How to Secure an Employment-Based Practicum
- 5:30 p.m. – What Employers Look for in Social Work Interns and Graduates
- 6:30 p.m. – Networking Mixer: Informal Meet-and- Greet with Employers
Career Week: Mental Health and Child Welfare Focus
Date: Wednesday, March 25
Locations: 115 Stillman Hall (Zoom options also available)
- 4:30 p.m. – Mental Health and Child Welfare Mini Social Work Career and Practicum Fair
- 4:30 p.m. – Headshot Station (requires advance sign up)
- 5:30 p.m. – Workshops
- Working in Community Mental Health featuring Sara Harrison-Mills, Chief Executive Officer at Syntero Inc.
- Child Welfare Careers: Challenges and Rewards featuring Kacie Bowens, Child Welfare Specialist at Franklin County Children Services
Career Week: School Social Work and Health/Aging Focus

- 11:30 a.m. – Lunch and Learn: Psychedelic Therapy Research and Practice in Social Work with Dr. Alan Davis, Associate Professor & Director, Director at the Center for Psychedelic Drug Research and Education (lunch provided)

- Advocacy Skills for Social Workers featuring Steve David, Senior Research Specialist at Ohio Lead at the Bridging Divides Initiative
