In a recent press release by the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA), the Age-Friendly Innovation Center’s(AFIC) Shallow Subsidy Pilot Program (SSPP) is spotlighted for its impact in providing targeted shallow subsidies for aging communities. Lead by AFIC and Principal Investigator Katie Calhoun, the research initiative was launched in July 2024 in an effort to promote housing security for low-income adult renters around Ohio.
In a survey with participants reflecting on the program’s impact over a 12-month period, many respondents praised the financial relief these subsidies provided, as well as a regained sense of empowerment.
“The subsidy has made a huge difference. I feel like I can actually breathe without having to constantly worry about money,” remarks an SSPP participant.
COAAA and AFIC will partner to host a discussion panel in COAAA’s Education Center on Tuesday, January 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 1p.m. to provide an overview of SSPP and report findings. Click here to register for the event.
