CSW Alumna Ava Eisele in the Boat

CSW alumna Ava Eisele (BSSW ’18, MSW ’19) is putting a new spin on the popular book and movie, The Boys in the Boat.
When Eisele, a healthcare navigator at Friendship Village of Dublin, and resident John Fellingham, bonded over the book, a surprising turn of events occurred. Engaging conversations about rowing inspired Eisele to learn and love the sport and reunited Fellingham to rowing after nearly 60 years.
Read more about how the two ultimately landed in the same boat, rowing together with the Westerville Crew on Hoover Reservoir. In October, Eisele will participate in the Jack Speakmon Memorial Regatta on the Scioto River.
“It was a joy and an honor to get to row with John,” says Eisele. “I believe our story shows the beneficial impact of intergenerational relationships and the reality that, regardless of our age, we can always get out of our comfort zones and surprise ourselves with what we are capable of!”
