Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging and the Age-Friendly Innovation Center Release Toolkit for Extreme Weather Preparedness in Affordable Housing
Central Ohio has seen a stark increase in the frequency of severe weather events, including extreme heat, flooding, and tornados. When confronted with these inclement conditions, many older adults are faced with safety risks from factors such as living alone, financial constraints, health issues, or living with disabilities.
In response to these hazards, the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA) and the Age-Friendly Innovation Center (AFIC) recently partnered to create the Weather and Aging Resilience Model (W.A.R.M.) for Affordable Housing Toolkit. This kit was created to provide educational resources for service coordinators and human service professionals who work with older adults in subsidized housing communities in the region.
