Congratulations to staff member Javier Negrete Jr for his recent appointment to the Institute for Educational Leadership Education’s (IEL) Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP)TM Community Schools Cohort.
Negrete is a member of the college’s Community and Youth Collaborative Institute (CAYCI), serving as the One Linden Schools Initiative (OLSI) community manager. In his current role, Negrete leads coordination efforts to recenter public schools in the Linden community. Negrete also supports student success through engaging preventative and mitigating strategies targeting the negative effects of traumatic life events.
“The Fellows selected for this year’s EPFP: Community Schools Cohort hail from states in every corner of the country, and are representing school districts and individual schools, local education associations and community organizations,” said IEL President Eddie Koen. “We’re so honored to provide this opportunity for these leaders who are eager to bring home a new set of skills to support the Community School strategy where they work and live.”
EPFP is IEL’s longest-running program, founded in 1964 as an opportunity for members to build education policies and leadership capacity, as well drive change in their local context through advocacy.
