2024 Hall of Fame Recipients

Three exceptional social work alumni were recognized for their accomplishments and the impact that they have had on our society in the human and public services, in higher education, and most importantly, in the alleviation of the conditions that threaten the human condition.
Dr. DaVonti’ DeAngelo Haynes – Distinguished Recent Alumnus Award
A four-time graduate of The Ohio State University, Dr. Haynes is an assistant professor in the School of Social Work at Temple University. Dr. Haynes has demonstrated experience in course development, teaching at the secondary and postsecondary levels, student advising, and mentoring and program development.


Karen Fabiano – Distinguished Career Award
With a public service career that spans 40 years, Fabiano currently works for the Appalachia Regional Commission (ARC) which serves 423 counties, 13 states and over 26.3 million residents. Fabiano has managed 556 grants with a portfolio of $78 million in ARC funding and $131 million in total funding projects in her 8 years with ARC.
Melissa Murray – Distinguished Career Award
Establishing her commitment to social justice by co-founding and running a nonprofit when she was 21, Murray has been an activist, leader, and advocate ever since. Melissa has worked in a variety of social justice movements, including anti-violence, racial justice, reproductive health, and queer and trans rights.
