Depicting older adults as lonely, and unengaged is common, but not accurate. LGBTQIA2+ older adults form meaningful relationships despite discrimination, and marginalization. At the same time, participants reported a current need for acceptance and safety in relationships, underscoring the importance of Age-Friendly strategies guided by LGBTQIA2+ older adults.
Congratulations to Cindy Clouner who recently received the State Visionary Award from the Ohio Prevention Professional’s Association (OPPA). Clouner was honored for her work to advance prevention across the state and serves as the managing director of the Higher Education Center for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Prevention and Recovery (HECAOD).
