Awards presented to Rao, LiFEsports and Immigrants Make Columbus

Ohio State’s Outreach and Engagement department is awarding College of Social Work’s Dr. Smitha Rao, LiFEsports and Immigrants Make Columbus with several top 2024 awards.
Rao received the Community Engaged Scholar Award, recognizing faculty members who have demonstrated co-created engaged scholarship that has positively impacted communities. Community Engaged Scholars have made significant contribution to Ohio State’s culture of engagement, further establishing, and strengthening the institution’s commitment to communities.
LiFEsports and Immigrants Make Columbus received the Programs of Excellence in Engaged Scholarship award. It supports and promotes high-impact engaged scholarship, the Office of Outreach and Engagement has instituted a process to certify programs of excellence in engaged scholarship. The certification process seeks to identify and certify projects annually that demonstrate excellence in community-engaged scholarship and meet the criteria of high-impact engaged scholarship.

Age-Friendly Receives 2026 Funding from The Columbus Foundation
Congratulations to the Age-Friendly Innovation Center for its recent grant from The Columbus Foundation and supporting foundation, the Isabelle Ridgway Foundation. The new funding will go toward the center’s 2026 Central Ohio Regional Assessment on Aging, which is conducted in collaboration with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging and the Franklin County Office on Aging.
