Pamela Mayor
MSW '01
Pamela Mayor
Pam entered the MSW program at Ohio State in 1998—after more than two decades into her career. She was 48 years old when she graduated in 2001. She absolutely loved the camaraderie and challenge of graduate school.
Since many of her current students are non-traditional, Pam feels she is truly able to help them because of It’s Pam’s job to guide social work bachelor and graduate students toward the areas in which they will thrive post-graduation—whether working with children, senior citizens or hospital patients. While students are sometimes reluctant to take a particular placement, they have expressed gratitude to Pam for pushing them to accept the challenge. Pam loves her career and views her current role as a way to get new social workers ready to take over for those nearing the end of their careers.
Pam has given back to the college in many ways, including her involvement in its Alumni Society, in which she served as former president for five years. In 2010, she received The Ohio State University’s Alumni Association Outstanding Society Leader Award. While president, Pam was known for ending alumni society meetings and events with “Go Social Workers and Go Bucks!”
