Dr. Lisa Pion-Berlin

In 1992, Lisa created the only National Certification for Parent Leaders. Lisa has also engaged in innovative research and advocated for important federal and state policy changes with parent leaders to ensure positive outcomes for families and communities. She has not only led and continued to help transform Parents Anonymous® Inc. into what it is today, but Lisa is also an expert in the field of community-based child abuse prevention programs and has testified to Congress as part of her advocacy efforts.

Lisa earned her MSW and MPA from the University of Denver and graduated with her PhD from Ohio State’s College of Social Work in 1989. She has taught at Ohio Northern University and became the first executive director for the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund. Lisa was inspired to pursue her current career path by two Ohio State College of Social Work faculty members, Dr. Beverly Toomey and Dr. Nolan Rindfleisch.

Lisa has also collaborated with Ohio State’s Police Department, Governor Richard Celeste and the Ohio State legislature as well as other universities and professionals to help enhance meaningful parent leadership and evidence-based services for families.
