Bio

Dr. Curtis is a public policy researcher and advocate for children and families. Her focus has been to examine the impact of systems of care on child and family well being. Of special interest are children of color—specifically African American children and families—who experience disproportionality within the child protection service system nationally and the juvenile justice system nationally. African American youth experience higher rates of school suspension and expulsion; they are at risk for child well being due to both health and mental health disparities. In addition to child welfare, research interest includes diversity maintenance and sustainability.
