Live Question and Answer Sessions

Please join us for these upcoming question and answer sessions to assist in your preparation for teaching next semester. We want to be supportive to you, as you all seek to be supportive to our students in the midst of the global COVID-19 pandemic and public health crisis on racism.
The OSU CSW Leadership team has been monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and assessing how to continue supporting our students in field work. Please review these resources and communicate with your field liaison for additional support in field education this summer.
We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. Requests made by 7–10 days prior to the supervision session will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.
Help Desk Information
The Keep Teaching help desk is open from 8am to 8pm Monday-Friday through 614-688-HELP or email@example.com.
Staff from the University Institute for Teaching and Learning are also available to provide support and consultation, particularly on identifying and implementing appropriate assessment tools for courses taught at distance.

Active SWT Extension:
The Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist Board in response to the global pandemic and expected delays in tests and licenses, is extending the expiration date for active SWTs. The extension is to give SWTs time to complete the licensure process during the period of anticipated postponements. This update would extend the expiration date to 12/1/2020 for active SWTs. Within the next couple of weeks the board will automatically update the expiration date and it is recommended that SWTs check their registration toward the end of April to make sure that their date has been updated on the elicense system at https://elicense.ohio.gov/oh_verifylicense. In regards to employment, it is the decision of the employer if they want to hire the candidate who holds the SWT. Employers can find more information on the scope of practice and the supervision requirements for active SWTs at https://cswmft.ohio.gov/Social-Workers/Social-Work-Trainee. Lastly, this extension only applies to current SWTs and any new registrations must follow the normal application process which includes proof of enrollment that shows a field practicum for summer 2020.

Licensure Exam Update
PearsonVue will be open for exam scheduling starting on May 1st. We will work closely with our partners ASWB and NBCC to ensure applicants have what they need (e.g. extended letters of eligibility) to complete the exam process. Council of Graduate Students/Student Legal Services Advisory Committee Update:
“At this time, there is no blanket rental payment relief in place for the COVID-19 crisis. The local Municipal Court is delaying eviction hearings, but evictions are still being filed for non-payment. We are closely monitoring all government orders and initiatives, legislative efforts, and outside resources available to tenants in order to have the most up-to-date information for our student clients.
The Ohio Landlord-Tenant Act in the Ohio Revised code governs the general legal relationship between tenants and landlords. However, a tenant’s specific legal rights and responsibilities can only be determined after review of their situation and their lease agreement. Our advice for one student might be different from another student depending on a number of factors including their lease agreement, landlord, and employment status. So, again, it is important that students schedule an appointment to review their unique circumstances.
We encourage all students to schedule a phone appointment to speak with a Student Legal Services attorney online through our website https://studentlegal.osu.edu. While we are operating remotely, we are still fully staffed and have plenty of availability!

Things you can do to support yourself
- Take breaks from watching, reading, or listening to news stories, including social media. Hearing about the pandemic repeatedly can be upsetting.
- Take care of your body. Take deep breaths, stretch, or meditate. Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals, exercise regularly, get plenty of sleep, and avoid alcohol and drugs.
- Make time to unwind. Try to do some other activities you enjoy.
- Connect with others. Talk with people you trust about your concerns and how you are feeling.

While our university acts to keep our community safe in response to COVID-19, Student Life’s Counseling and Consultation Service (CCS) is open and we are here to support the campus community. CCS acknowledges the impact on Ohio State students related to Coronavirus and recognizes that it is typical to experience anxiety, worry, or fear.

You can do these stretches seated or standing, in any way that feels good to you today.

If you have a yoga mat, please use it. But ou don’t need a mat to do yoga – one of my favorite ways to do these poses is in my hiking boots in the snowy mountains. So yoga on a carpet or floor should work well too!

How to report COVID-19 cases
What to do about possible coronavirus cases:
Individuals: Contact your primary care physician if you are personally experiencing signs or symptoms of respiratory illness consistent with coronavirus, have been exposed to an individual with coronavirus or have been diagnosed with the virus. If you are unable to reach your primary care physician, call the Wexner Medical Center’s COVID-19 call center at (614) 293-4000.
Managers: If you receive a report, confirmed or unconfirmed, that a member of your team has been exposed to or has contracted coronavirus, connect with your HR Business Professional and call the Wexner Medical Center’s COVID-19 call center at (614) 293-4000 for guidance on what you should do.
Please remember: If you learn of a possible case, do NOT share this person’s health information with colleagues. This is a violation of their privacy, and this information is protected by HIPAA and other laws. Please trust health officials to investigate cases and trace potential contacts.
