Home > Training for Professionals > Training Calendar > Training Archives > Supervisors: How to Deal with Workplace Bullying, Negativity and Other Difficult Situations

July 20, 2009
9:00 AM – 4:15 PM
6 CEU/clock hours
Location: 115 Stillman Hall

It’s no secret that productivity, staff morale, and service to clients is at its highest when everyone is working effectively as a team and practicing basic tenets of appropriate behavior and interaction.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case due to the disruptive behaviors of difficult co-workers – behaviors that contaminate attitudes and negatively impact interpersonal relationships.

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

·         Understand the various types of toxic workers and their impact on the workplace.

·         Know common characteristics shared by toxic co-workers

·         Look through a ‘lens of understanding’ to be able to identify typical reasons WHY the behavior exists and continues.

·         Understand the dynamics of rumor and gossip and know how to deal with rumor-mongers and gossipers

·         Identify the characteristics of bullies and know how to deal with bullying behavior

Presenter: Ruth McMonagle, MSSA, MBA, is President of Resource Management Associates.
