This one day training is designed to help us understand the many forms of Addictions and the impact Addictions have on our Families and Culture today. We will explore the Psychological Family Dynamics involved in the Addiction Process and examine effective Intervention Strategies working with families. We will also explore treatment modalities and resources that enhance the Addiction Recovery Process.
Participants will learn…..
1. To identify types of addictions and Substance Abuse and examine statistics regarding the impact of these addictions on our families and culture today.
2. To examine psychological dynamics and physiological factors in the progression of the addiction process.
3. To describe and identify the psychological process of how addiction affects spouses and children.
4. To describe and examine the psychological dynamics involved in dysfunctional families and compare these dynamics with healthy families.
5. To describe and identify intervention strategies and counseling techniques in working with families affected by the disease of addiction.
6. To describe and examine types of treatment resources and support systems that enhance the addiction recovery process
Presenter Biography
Annette Franks, M.Ed., LPC is a Certified Gestalt Psychotherapist and Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board. She has 30 years counseling experience working with individuals, couples and families. Annette has a Private Practice in Columbus, Ohio and is on Faculty at The Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio and The Institute of Addictions Studies with The Ohio State University Department of Addiction Medicine – Talbot Hall. She conducts Life Enrichment Retreats, Empowerment Seminars and Counselor and Corporate Training Programs throughout the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
