Families are the bedrock of long-term care. As chronic and long-term care systems become more complex and demanding, care transitioning processes offer a critical opportunity to treat family caregivers as important care partners. In this three hour training, participants will discuss the issues and challenges facing our family caregivers, where to locate community and online resources and discuss what might be available in the future.

Gail Neustadt will contribute her personal journey and experiences as a family caregiver and introduce a different type of grieving process. Ms. Neustadt will also lead a discussion on the unique characteristics shared universally by spousal caregivers.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will:
·         Have a better understanding of the issues and challenges facing family caregivers
·         Learn about community and online resources available to family caregivers, as well as some novel options that might be available in the future.
·         Understand the caregiver’s journey which introduces a different type of grieving process
·         Be aware of the unique characteristics shared universally by spousal caregivers
Meet your presenters:
Gail Neustadt’s professional training was as a Speech Language Pathologist with sub specialties in geriatric rehabilitation, communication programming for dementia, third party reimbursement policy and documentation.
