Simply put, ethics is about doing the right thing, or in some instances, determining the best right thing to do when two “right” values are in conflict.
This workshop will provide leaders with an opportunity to discuss, evaluate, and solidify their beliefs and values about ethics and ethical dilemmas. Determining the right thing can be determined by, but not limited to, laws, personal and professional values, ethical codes, organizational ‘rules’ or codes of conduct, utilizing a step by step process for sound decision making, or conducting an ethics ‘test’.
At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- Better understand the importance of ethics in all aspects of the workplace
- Articulate personal beliefs and values concerning ethics and ethical leadership
- Identify ways of deciding the best course of action - the “right thing” - when there appears to be more than one right thing to do
- Understand commonly encountered ethical dilemmas through in class discussions of case situations from four road categories: human resources; boundary/conflicts of interest; organizational/client services; and the use of organizational resources
- Describe the role of ‘stewardship’ in ethical decision making
- Know the questions to ask when conducting an ethics ‘Test”
- Utilize an 8-Step process for sound ethical decision making
