Recovery from Traumatic Injury: SBIRT Interventions
Substance abuse disorders are contributing factors in the course of traumatic injuries. Injuries restricting someones from use of alcohol and/or drugs can be devestating to individuals, families, and society at large. Providing SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment) interventions in the medical setting is essential to the recovery process for trauma patients and their families.
Geneva Sanford is an experienced Social Worker and Chemical Dependency Counselor who has worked in the field of addiction for nearly twenty years. She currently works as a Substance Absuse Coordinator at Grant Medical Centers Trauma Program where she provides SBIRT interventions with trauma patients and families.
