Understanding and Treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Addiction Recovery Process

Gain a greater understanding of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during this session and how it can emerge in the addiction recovery process. Participants will explore how PTSD impacts the physical body, its psychological effects, and behavioral and social implications. They will also learn to identify PTSD symptoms and its origins (i.e., war trauma, crime victimization, childhood physical and/or sexual abuse). Therapeutic processes and treatment modalities will be reviewed.

Annette Franks, M.Ed., LPC is a Certified Gestalt Psychotherapist and Licensed Professional Counselor licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor and Social Worker Board. She has 30 years counseling experience working with individuals, couples and families. Annette has a Private Practice in Columbus, Ohio and is on Faculty at The Gestalt Institute of Central Ohio and The Institute of Addictions Studies with The Ohio State University Department of Addiction Medicine – Talbot Hall. She conducts Life Enrichment Retreats, Empowerment Seminars and Counselor and Corporate Training Programs throughout the United States, Canada, Costa Rica and Mexico.
