Adults just have the natural tendency to want to make a child feel better; drying their tears when they fall, soothing them when they hurt. It is never that easy when it comes to helping a child who is grieving, and harder to know what to say, to do, and to expect. This class is designed for the therapist who wants to be a very real support for the grieving process in children; a process that can't be hurried, and shouldn't be! Through lecture, activities, dvds, and small groups, participants will build knowledge and awareness regarding grief in children.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will have gained:
1. Participants will learn the characteristics of grief throughout childhood.
2. Participants will explore the tasks of grieving in children.
3. Participants will learn intervention techniques that work well with bereaved children.
