THE ETHICS OF SUPERVISION will fulfill the Board's licensure requirement for Ethics or Supervision

This three hour workshop describes ethical supervision. A framework for understanding ethical vulnerabilities and dilemmas that present during supervisory experiences is provided. This workshop is designed for social work supervisors or those planning to become supervisors and is intended to improve the understanding of and ability to perform ethical supervision. Participants will be able to identify ethical supervision, identify vulnerabilities of the supervisory relationship, evaluate ethical dilemmas in supervision, and develop goals and behaviors characteristic of ethical supervision.

Participants will have learned at the completion of this training:

1. To increase understanding of ethical supervision

2. To gain knowledge of vulnerabilities and ethical dilemmas characteristic of supervisory relationships

3. To integrate this knowledge and develop analytic skills for use in supervisory ethical dilemmas

4. To evaluate and develop one’s ethical beliefs and behaviors as a supervisor

Linda Helm, MSW, ACSW, LISW-S has worked as a social worker since 1978. She is a Ph. D. Candidate and the Campus Coordinator for the College of Social Work’s Child Welfare Training Program.
