Ethics: How to Set Appropriate Boundaries

In this training, participants will review rules and regulations set by Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board and/or the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board. Discussion will center around appropriate relationships with clients and how to continue to make ethical decisions in a counseling relationship. Case Studies will be used to help the participants practice practical understanding of the ethical codes when faced with difficult boundary decisions.

Participants will learn by the conclusion of this training:

  • Participants will review the ethical codes important in a counseling relationship, including the new revised rules set by the board on dual relationships
  • Participants will practice recognition of ethical violation with case studies, to enhance knowledge and comfort level with understanding how to make difficult decisions during a counseling relationship


Presenter:  Jennifer Haywood, LISW, LICDC, has been treating dually diagnosed adults and adolescents for over ten years; is a private practitioner and lecturer at Ohio State University, College of Social Work, Columbus State and Capital University.
