This training will combine multi-perspectives, with expert facilitators Lisa Rhees, Executive Director, STOP, Inc., an agency that works closely with offenders and Howard Fradkin, PhD, Psychology, founder of Affirmations and co-chairperson of MaleSurvivor.org . Dr. Fradkin works closely with victims. Recent sexual abuse scandals have brought to the public’s attention the need to identify sexual offending behaviors to assist in promoting treatment for victims as well as offenders. The reality is that treatment can be effective for both populations. This workshop will provide the necessary education for treatment providers to learn about identifying and serving both populations.
Participants will:
Identify at least five consequences of being a victim of sexual abuse/assault
Recognize the common typologies of sexual offending and the cycle of offending that offenders often exhibit
Identify at least five key components for the treatment of sex offenders
Identify at least five key components of treatment for sex offenders with a history of sexual victimization
