Do drunk drivers need treatment? Is prevention only for kids? Intervention for adults? What’s the difference between abuse and addiction? This workshop will address the lines between prevention, intervention and treatment and how everyone needs one of the three. We will review definitions, examine case studies and address how the P-I-T framework applies to not just chemical dependency but a host of other physical and mental illnesses.
Objectives:
1. Identify the differences and the relationships among prevention, intervention and treatment.
2. Increase understanding of who should receive which category (prevention, intervention, treatment) services.
3. Improve practice and referral capacity among participants in day-to-day work.
