The College of Social Work distributed nearly $115,000 in scholarships to more than 54 undergraduate, graduate, and PhD students in support of their academic careers in social work for the 2011-12 school year. Many of the awards were given during the college’s annual Scholarship Luncheon, held May 25. The funding will assist students pursuing a wide range of interests in social work ranging from eldercare to youth development, addictions to domestic violence, and children and families to social justice. Some of these scholarships are the result of the two-year Students First Students Now fundraising initiative, which has ended. The college surpassed its goal of a half-million for scholarships for students. The College of Social Work is the oldest continuously accredited social work program in a public university.
