Mexico:  an Ecological Perspective on Cultural and Immigration Issues through a Social Work and Human Services Lens

Focus:

• Immigration from Mexico and other Spanish Speaking countries to the US
  • Economic pressures Mexicans face
  • Effects of immigration on immigrants
  • Effects of immigration on families and communities in Mexico
• Introduction to the culture and history of Mexico
• Social work in Mexico

Field Trips and Activities:

• Social work agencies
• Day and/or overnight trips to Mexico City and rural villages

Location:  Cuernavaca, the capital city of the state of Morelos  Cuernavaca is about a 1½ hour drive south of Mexico City.

Date of program:  Summer Quarter – June 24-July 15, 2010
