2012 Call for Papers and Student Posters
The 2012 National Symposium on Doctoral Reserch in Social Work joins the College of Social Work in its year long focus on "Seek Justice" with a keynote focusing on this topic. Presentations will showcase some of the best doctoral dissertation research of recent Ph.D. and D.S.W. graduates in social work.
Abstracts are submitted to and reviewed by the symposium committee and are selected based on their contributions to social work knowledge, research methodology, and contributions to social work practice and policy.
Selected abstracts are then paired to form three to seven presentation sessions.
A Nationally recognized scholar and researcher is invited to deliver the keynote address focusing on the importance of social work research. Recent keynote speakers include Dr. Lorraine Gutierrez., Dr. Paula Nurius, Dr. Jeffrey Jenson, and Dr. Sarah Gehlert.
The Proceedings of the National Symposium on Doctoral Research can be found on The Ohio State University Libraries' Knowledge Bank. Click on "National Symposium on Doctoral Research in Social Work" under "Sub-communities within this community". Through the Knowledge Bank, the proceedings retains a permanent URL for citation purposes.
The Student Poster Presentation is organized by the Doctoral Student Organization (DSO). A committee comprised of DSO members and College of Social Work faculty reviews and selects student abstracts for the Student Poster Presentation. Symposium presenters serve as judges for these posters and prizes are awarded. Previous posters are archived on the Knowledge Bank - see Student Poster Sessions.
