The Selma & Alexander Erlen Endowment Fund for Doctoral Student Excellence recognizes the talents of PhD students with an outstanding record in service, academics and scholarship by offerring a monetary award each year. Drs. John and Judith Erlen endowed the award in honor of John's parents.

The award is endowed, so the amount of the award varies each year. It has ranged from approximately $2500-$5000.
The Award is presented at the College of Social Work Scholarship Luncheon in the spring the Faculty Club. The recipient of the award also has the opportuntiy to meet and communicate with the donors.
Doctoral student or candidate in the College of Social Work with an excellent all around record of service and academic and scholarly achievement.
