About the "Ask Fred" FundThe “Ask Fred” Fund through an endowment established by Dr. Beverly Guella Toomey (MSW ’74; Ph.D. ’77; professor of Social Work 1977-2001), provides financial assistance to doctoral students for educational experiences beyond the standard curriculum of the doctoral program, such as professional conference participation. The support that Dr. Toomey’s father, Fred Guella, gave to her and her sisters served as her inspiration for establishing this award.
The award is currently limited to a maximum of $250 per conference at which a student has an accepted presentation, but is subject to change due to fund availability.
The Application Deadline is on-going and must be submitted one week or more prior to travel to the conference. More information is available in the PhD program office.
