Pre-major Social Work Requirements
As a pre-major student, you will complete a wide range of courses that are offered across the university (General Education Curriculum). You will also complete three social work classes designed to expose you to the social work profession; social work values; and how the issues of race, gender, class and ethnicity affect the social welfare and well-being of Americans.

Below are examples of our curriculum checklist sheets for pre-major students. You are encouraged to meet with a social work advisor (see contact information below) to understand how to complete the pre-major requirements and when to apply to the social work major.

How to become a pre-major student in social work
In order to enroll in the social work pre-major, you must have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA and meet with an undergraduate social work advisor (Meghan Good or Andréa Severson). See below for the advising contact information and office location.
