  • Junior-level majors with a 3.4 minimum GPA after completing a minimum or 24 graded credit hours
  • Transfer students who can verify Honors status at their former university and who have a minimum 3.4 GPA at their former university.

What are the honors program requirements?

  • During the pre-major curriculum, students must complete a minimum of three Honors-level GECs or their equivalencies
  • During the major curriculum, students must complete four Honors research classes (SWK HE 570, SWK HE 571, SWK HE576, and SWK H696) and complete 14 credits of SWK H699 (thesis credits).

How do you maintain Honors status?

All Honors students must:

  • Maintain a 3.4 GPA, which is reviewed at the end of spring quarter each academic year.
  • Enroll and earn credit in the required honors courses necessary in the pre-major or major curriculum.
  • A 3.4 minimum GPA and completion of the thesis is necessary in order to graduate "with Research Distinction in Social Work."

Students interested in the Honors Program should speak with a social work academic advisor for additional details.
