Overview
Each year, the undergraduate program in the College of Social Work welcomes many new transfer students from other universities, from other majors at Ohio State, and from regional campuses of Ohio State. Students transfer to the College of Social Work for our unique program of study, reputation for academic excellence, our excellent career preparation, and our small College experience within the large OSU campus and alumni network.
No matter where you are transferring from and what your reasons are, we have advisors who are dedicated to helping you make the transition as smooth as possible.
First Steps
Here are some recommended steps for students looking to transfer to the College of Social Work:
1. Schedule a campus visit
If you are a current college student looking to transfer to Ohio State, schedule a campus visit and overview for “prospective transfer students” at www.campusvisit.osu.edu.
2. Schedule a social work academic overview
All future students are encouraged to schedule an individual appointment with an academic advisor in the College of Social Work. The overview will provide information about how your classes will transfer and apply to the social work degree at Ohio State, as well as criteria for enrollment and admission to the social work major. Be certain to bring a copy of your transcript(s) to this appointment!
3. Apply for admissions
Current college students can access transfer admission information at http://undergrad.osu.edu/domestictransfer.html and complete the OSU application. Regional campus students should speak to their regional campus advisor about admissions to Columbus campus, while current Columbus campus students with a minimum of a 2.0 GPA can process the transfer admission through a social work advisor.
