AAA, the only charter school sponsored by Columbus City Schools, serves 190 at-risk students between 16-21 years old who have been chronically truant, absent, suspended or expelled from their local school system. The student population is very diverse. With regard to race/ethnicity, 84% of students are African American, 10% are Caucasian, and 6% are Multiracial. Ninety-seven percent of the student population is economically disadvantaged and 15% have involvement with the criminal justice system.

Ohio State University's College of Social Work (OSU-CSW) is partnering with AAA to strengthen the overall support service system and enhance the programs, services, and interventions offered at the school. OSU-CSW will provide consultation related to infrastructure development, assessment and progressing-monitoring and program design. OSW-CSW will also provide and supervise two student interns from the college to help assist in program development, referral system enhancements, and the delivery of services (i.e. individual and group counseling, crisis management, case management).
