MICHAELINE CHANCE-REAY, Ph.D. 1984, MSW 1994, Assistant Professor of Women Studies and Curriculum & Instruction at Kansas State University authored a book, LAND GRANT LADIES: KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY PRESIDENTIAL WIVES, which has been named one of the 150 Best Kansas Books by The State Library of Kansas as part of the State’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, 1861-2011.The work includes biographies of the twelve women who served in this position from the 1860 Bloody Kansas Days preceding the Civil War to 2010. She is working on a second edition which will add the life of Dr. Noel Schulz, who is the first president’s wife to hold a Ph.D. and teach on campus as a Paslay Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering in addition to her current duties as First Lady.
