Social Work Alumni Scholarship Fund

An endowed scholarship was established by the Alumni Society Executive Committee in September 6, 1985 upon raising over $10,000 through alumni gifts. This Alumni Scholarship supported more than 40 students since its inception.  However, more student tuition assistance is needed today than ever before due to the continuous rise of tuition.  Individuals seeking a career in this profession need our support to lessen the financial burden of earning a BSSW, MSW and/or PhD in social work. Thus, the Executive Committee launched a campaign in September 2005 to raise an additional $50,000 to achieve an overall endowment level of $100,000 by 2009.

Each year the interest generated by this endowment is awarded in the form of scholarships to deserving doctorate, master and/or bachelor candidates. Thanks to the continued support of alumni and friends the endowment grew to $63,000 last spring and at the May 2008 Scholarship Luncheon the CSW Society awarded two scholarships. An incoming undergraduate and a master's student each received a $2,300 scholarship.

We need your financial support in growing the Alumni Scholarship Endowment to $100,000 by the end of 2009.  Even though time is growing short, we remain focused and optimistic that this goal will be achieved. To all who contributed to the scholarship endowment this past year the Society Executive Committee says "Thank You" and hope we can count on your continued support.
